Visionz to Life’s First Annual Women’s Retreat: A Transformative Journey in Arizona

Unapologetically Me 2025

From March 14th through March 18th, 2024, Visionz to Life Foundation Inc. held its first annual women’s retreat, “Unapologetically Me,” in the serene landscapes of Arizona. This retreat was a transformative and empowering experience designed to help women embrace their true selves without reservation. With a mix of workshops, activities, and communal bonding, attendees explored themes of self-discovery, self-love, and personal growth. The event provided a safe and supportive environment for women to share their stories, connect with like-minded individuals, and gain valuable tools for navigating life with authenticity.

A Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere

The retreat’s atmosphere was universally praised by attendees for its warmth and inclusivity. Tashonda Alston shared, “I was allowed to be open, honest, and emotional with no judgment.” This sentiment was echoed by many others. Kesha Chandler remarked, “The energy of the group was amazing; a better group of women could not have been chosen,” while Shemeka Brown noted the perfect ambiance that made women feel safe and vulnerable. The overarching theme was one of positive, uplifting, and supportive energy, as highlighted by Victoria Battle and Kimberly Smith.

Empowering Workshops and Activities

The retreat addressed key topics related to self-discovery, empowerment, and personal growth through a variety of workshops and discussions. Kesha Chandler felt “VERY empowered” and planned to use the resources provided to maintain this sense of empowerment. Victoria Battle found the discussions and books particularly helpful in understanding she wasn’t alone and in rebuilding her relationship with God. Kimberly Smith appreciated how the retreat allowed her to see her worth and potential, emphasizing the importance of self-care. Shemia Harris noted that the retreat addressed topics related to self-discovery, empowerment, and personal growth through “raw discussions and shared experiences.”

Perfect Balance of Structure and Freedom

A well-balanced schedule of structured activities and free time was a key feature of the retreat. Tianna Monge appreciated the thoughtful planning, saying, “I love a schedule and thought it was well planned, providing a good balance for connections and self-reflection.” Shemia Harris also highlighted the balance, stating, “There was great balance between structural and leisure activities. We did many things as a group, and also had an opportunity to be free in our own space”

Lasting Connections and Lifelong Memories

Participants left the retreat with lifelong memories and connections. Tianna Monge will “never forget this experience,” and Kimberly Smith expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity, thanking Zaiana Adossa and Melissa Franklin for their efforts. “This experience has been eye-opening, and I am so very thankful that I was chosen to participate in such an event,” she said, emphasizing the welcoming spirit and support she encountered.

Exceeding Expectations

The retreat not only met but exceeded the expectations of many attendees. Shemeka Brown noted, “The retreat actually exceeded my expectations. I expected to have fun and laugh with everyone and forget about my issues at home. However, not only did I have fun, laugh, and forget about my issues at home, but I also faced some things that were buried and realized that I’m not as alone as I thought I was.”

Resonating Moments and Impactful Activities

The carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized activities and moments at the retreat left a lasting impact on the participants. Kimberly Smith appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as personalized robes and birthday acknowledgments. She emphasized the importance of the real connections made during the retreat, creating a sisterhood in a calm and relaxing environment.

A Safe and Inclusive Environment

The Visionz to Life team excelled in creating a safe and inclusive environment where all women felt welcomed and valued. Shemeka Brown highlighted the inclusivity and non-judgmental space that allowed for genuine vulnerability and connection.

Comfortable and Dreamy Accommodations

The accommodations were described as beyond comfortable and equivalent to a dream. Kimberly Smith and others were able to relax and be taken care of, a rare and cherished experience for many.
